Losing a friend is a painful experience.
When George, the dog, lost his best pal, Blackie, a black labrador, his life spiraled into depression. He was a mess, and there was nothing that would cheer up the poor dog.
To make matters worse, George suffered from crippling anxiety and loneliness. He would refuse to eat as if starving himself to death.
George even started to have a skin condition due to him biting himself.
When it seemed like nothing can help George, a miracle happened.
One day, when Jackie, George’s owner, looked out her backyard, she noticed that George had brought an unexpected stranger with him.
It was a duck!
The duck just decided to follow George that day and made friends with him. It wouldn’t leave George’s side ever since. Somehow, the duck has created a bond with George, which allowed both animals to find comfort together.
While George didn’t allow just about anybody near him, he didn’t mind his duck friend following him around – and what’s more, he even lets it rest its bill on his leg!
Since that day, they have become inseparable. George would allow the duck to sleep in his bed beside him.
Jackie admits that she had to make adjustments when the duck came to their life; after all, they weren’t expecting to have a duck around the house suddenly.
Changes were made around the house. They had to upgrade the birdbath into a larger tub. Jackie also had to constantly clean the house because of the duck droppings.
But the important changes are those that Jackie has observed from George. He is no longer the unhappy dog that she used to see every day. Instead, he’d happily spend most of his time with his new best friend.
In the end, Jackie is happy that George has finally found a way to cope with the loss of his best friend, even if it was in the form of a duck.
