Adopting a rescue dog means giving a dog a chance to be part of a family. Most dogs living in the shelter lived most of their lives alone or neglected by their owners. They really don’t know what it feels like to have someone to care for them. There are also a lot of dogs living in shelters that experienced abuse at one point in their lives.
Although most shelters are turning into no-kill shelters, there are still animal shelters that euthanize dogs to make room for other dogs. If a shelter dog isn’t adopted at a given amount of time in the shelter, a kill shelter will put the dog to sleep. This is why it’s better to adopt rescue dogs than to buy from pet stores.
A young girl named Haley Deecken knows that dogs living in shelters have little or no experience in being a part of a family. Haley’s mom works in a local shelter, which added to her passion for saving dogs and other animals. Aside from a total of nine dogs, Haley also adopted two cats and a rabbit from the shelter.
All of the animals that Haley has in her home are mostly from the shelter. She loves all her dogs, but she’s particularly fond of one of her dogs named Dunkin. Dunkin is a rescue dog who Haley has a special connection with. Besides being a lovable and cuddly dog, Dunkin also has a unique personality and look that Haley loves.
Dunkin was adopted by Haley’s family when he was only eight weeks old. Growing up, Dunkin developed a grumpy look on his face, which Haley described as his unique smile. When people see Dunkin for the first time, they would think that the dog has a cleft lip.
Dunkin also has an extraordinary skill that Haley finds cool and unique. Dunkin can jump really high. It’s hard to get some alone time in a house full of dogs. However, Dunkin found out a way to get away from all the other animals. Because of his ability to jump unusually high, Dunkin would jump up the kitchen counter and lay down. He would even lay down or sit inside the kitchen sink.
Dunkin can even jump over a six-foot gate outside Haley’s home. Each dog in Haley’s house has a unique personality. Haley loves all her dogs, but she considers Dunkin as her best friend. Here’s an adorable video about Haley’s grumpy-looking dog, Dunkin.
